mashup of logos
It is often hard to visualise and (re)present complex topics and fluid identities/identifiers. In the process of coming up with a simple, scalable, symbolic and ... possibly disruptive visuals for our project that would have to inform, to inspire, to instigate or at least be funny and have catchy aspects - there were no obvious solutions. 3 continents around the sea 1st is monochrome logo done by Croatian (modernist) star designer Boris Ljubicic, who did for Split Mediteranian Games in 1979. Logo represented 3 continents around the sea reflecting in the water. As one of first computer calculated was instantly popular and catchy. It was embraced as the official logo for the Mediterranian Games...

gender fluidity in colors 2nd is similar 3 circle logo in spectral colors from pink to blue and created by Meredith Espinosa because there wasn’t a genderfluid symbol that “doesn’t reinforce the gender binary”  - “ The three rings represent genders a person flows between“.

I love that 2nd subverts the first with minimal intervention, but also that 2nd does not take away the elegance of the first. The fact that first was made for Split almost 40 years ago, makes me think it could give us a chance to spin a few heads and maybe a news story in/around it during 2019.
